Fritztown Farms started in 2018 with seven hens and a dream—a dream of self-sufficiency and knowing exactly where our food came from. The excitement of collecting that very first egg after months of waiting was unforgettable.
What began as a small backyard endeavor quickly grew to include Coturnix quail and a few Southdown Babydoll sheep—perfect for maintaining vineyards, orchards, and even our own yard while we were still living in town. For years, our little farm thrived within city limits until 2022, when we found the perfect place to expand. Nestled on 20 acres just 15 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, our new home gave us the space to bring our vision to life.
From the moment we closed on the property, the real work began—building coops, mending fences, and bringing the land back to life. We were incredibly fortunate that it came with two additional homes, which, with a bit of hard work, we transformed into charming BnBs. These give us the opportunity to share the farm experience with guests, allowing them to connect with nature and our animals in a unique way.
As with all things, our farm has continued to grow and evolve. Today, Fritztown Farms is home to over a dozen rare breeds of chickens, along with ducks, turkeys, guineas, and quail. We’ve also welcomed a couple of rescue horses, mini donkeys, Nigerian Dwarf goats—who provide us with fresh milk—and a guardian llama named Ned. Our original Babydoll sheep now have an important job maintaining our orchard, and they do it beautifully.
One of the most unique aspects of our farm is our Celadon quail. Through years of careful breeding, we’ve established a flock that lays 100% Celadon eggs—stunning blue-shelled quail eggs that are as beautiful as they are rare. These eggs sparked the inspiration for our jewelry line. After seeing so many of these delicate shells go to waste, we knew they deserved a second life. Now, each handcrafted piece carries the natural beauty of our farm, transformed into something truly special.
At Fritztown Farms, we embrace hard work, creativity, and the simple joys of farm life. Whether it’s through our farm-fresh products, handcrafted jewelry, or the peaceful retreat of our BnBs, we love sharing a little piece of our world with others.
